Translation
Contrast
Nets made of thoughts, like a spider's web,in which the glances from within have interlaced. There, from spite, a child has hidden;it's frightened — say a prayer for it.
Bliss and purity, the untouched soul —that is the source that is aware of beauty.Dirt and darkness, unknown till now, still foreign, become familiar with the flow of time.
Solitude as the greatest joy in life,as the edge you run to from society,to solve the mystery of feelingsthat play in the heart like the heroes of a kingdom.
About the poem
A poem of definitions set against each other, as the title promises. Thought is a cobweb in which a frightened child hides — “pray for her.” Purity of soul is the source of beauty; dirt and darkness “become familiar with time.” Solitude is “the greatest joy,” an edge to flee to from society. Boundlessness filled with love is a wound “flooded with hot blood,” and the pain is the salt in the tear. Suffering is a way of existing in “that ardent game we once called love — and then gave it all our dreams.” Philosophy in rhymed quatrains, with the last line as the wound.
